Picnic at Veterans’ Home at Manteno

On Sunday, 20 July 2025, a picnic lunch was co-hosted by American Legion Post 1139, East Hazel Crest and the PADS Ministry Team at St. John Neumann Parish, for the veterans at the Manteno Home in Manteno, IL. Commander John Kearns and his great group of veterans and family members along with our own PADS    Ministry team provided a sumptuous lunch of chicken and pulled pork sandwiches, potato salad, coleslaw and a huge variety of cookies, brownies, pies and cakes.  Sodas and water were also provided.  Our teams had the honor of serving this special meal to over 75 veterans and several of their family members.  The picnic was originally scheduled to be held in the outside pavilion picnic area; however, the rain and winds forced us inside. Despite the weather, nothing could put a damper on the energy and enthusiasm of all involved to serve our true American heroes.
